The process starts with high standard selection of the logs. No left twisted logs, minimum 70% of heartwood, no blue stain and other strict criteria points are met during the selection. Long lasting cooperation with the timber suppliers ensures the quality standards are being followed at all times and constant deliveries for reasonable prices are guaranteed.

For log cabin production only over 100 years old pine is used, which is slow growing and therefore it has small annual rings and is very dense material. As our experience proves, it is very important to use only winter cut logs, which are stocked during the winter months. In spring all the logs are debarked and stored in cross-stacks. This way the timber dries slowly, preventing it from wide cracks.

Additional drying of the timber is performed in kilns. “LATLAFT” holds 26m long kilns for drying of round logs allowing to reach the moisture content below 20% in the logs before the production is started. The length of the kilns and computer control enables to adjust the temperature and moisture in the kiln to avoid fast drying and large cracks accordingly.
